“Stream of Consciousnesses” the first solo release on the new Bu-mako label is produced, composed and performed by Jenifa Mayanja a noted and well respected underground dj/producer/vocalist in New York having appeared as a performer and dj at numerous well known events during the course of her fifteen year career. Jenifa Mayanja's unique artistic vision and spirited trademark dj sound are reflective of her exposure to a variety of musical sounds since childhood in her native country, Uganda.
Notable dj appearances include guest appearances at, Body and Soul, Warm Up PS.1, Deep See with DJ E-man, SOBs as opening dj for Groove Collective, Francois K’s Deep Space NYC, Alma NYC, Jacks House with producer Jask(King Street) as well as her own events “Hamsa” and “Bu-mako” which were both featured in Timeout magazine NY. Her dj travels have taken to cities across the US, Canada and Russia.
On the production tip she has collaborated with the following producers/musicians, Anthony Nicholson (Trackmode Records, Clairaudience) as the “Descendants”, Alison Crockett aka Diva Blue (Sylk 130, Naked Music, wah wah 45’s) as the Djima project released on Lifeline Records, Hipbone records with Vicki Bell and Alexis P. Suter(Open Door) as “Bakazi” .
She also gained much knowledge and experience in the music industry as a buyer at Dancetracks Records in the late nineties and in the early days of Spiritual Life music with Joe Claussell.
The Bu-Mako recordings label is the main focus of Jenifa Mayanja at this point in her career, nurturing, defining and slowly establishing the vision of the label to the world.
Bu-mako Recordings was launched in 2006 by Jenifa Mayanja as a continuation of the Bu-mako vision to support timeless and progressive musical ideas. Bu-mako started as intimate loft style party gatherings for music lovers looking for a dance experience off the beaten path and was mainly a music and dj event with Jenifa Mayanja as a resident dj, organically musical production was the next step.
The label will mainly feature music from the mind and soul of Jenifa Mayanja but leaves room to showcase a very select breed of artists, some known and others upcoming but all channeling their creativity towards putting out damm good music to the music lover that sees music without boundaries.

The Bu-Mako Experience radio show features the dj talents of Jenifa Mayanja a veteran in the music business and respected producer in New York.
Bu-mako which literally means “life source” was created as an eclectic dance party that held events in intimate loft style spaces. The party has grown now into a private label for Jenifa’s works and now the birth of the radio show.
The radio show mirrors the Bu-Mako style of doing things, spotlighting music rarely heard and in particular up and coming labels and artists.
