Hailing from Frankfurt, Germany, Michael Rütten’s tremendous passion for music manifests and gets canalised in his work as a DJ, music-journalist, producer and promoter of several live and clubnights like LAZY., live/club at Sinkkasten and the private club ENZO in Frankfurt. On top of that he has been hosting his weekly ‘Soulsearching’ radio show since 1997 on Radio X, the international version of the show is now syndicated to over 15 stations worldwide, fm and internet airwaves, including some of the most important leftfield radio stations like FM4 Vienna, Byte.fm Hamburg, Radio B92 Belgrade, Radio Active98fm Wellington/NZ, GiantStep.net NYC, straightup.com.au Melbourne, Radio Nova Sofia, a.o. Always aiming to discover those special pieces of black gold, whether old or new, Michael has been spreading his message throughout Europe & Asia via countless DJ Sets and various Compost Records labelnights. Over the years he put together numerous compilations for labels like Infracom or Compost and as Soulpatrol (alongside producer Max Schneider) has completed remixes for Peace Orchestra, Fritz Pauer (MPS), Little Dragon, Beanfield, Sidewinder and Cleveland Watkiss to name but a few. As a DJ he represents the original old school freestyle approach from back in 1977 when he started playing records at his parents parties.
